The words of celebrated Vermont poet David Budbill take center stage in a concert featuring Vermont and New York musicians and composers. This collaboration with Scrag Mountain Music brings together soprano Mary Bonhag, composer/double bassist Evan Premo, with flutist Karen Kevra, pianist Jeffrey Chappell, and avant garde jazz artist William Parker, who was Budbill's long-time collaborator and friend. They will perform works by Erik Nielsen and Evan Premo, and William Parker will lead a group of vocalists in an incantation of poetry and improvised music. Together, these artists offer a sonically diverse program that weaves together music with Budbill’s iconic poetry, which is written “with rare honesty, affection and grace--and with language so precise and descriptive you will know immediately you’re soul-deep in something extraordinary.” (Los Angeles Daily News)
>>> Please note: All tickets for these May 15th–17th concerts can be reserved through Scrag Mountain Music (www.scragmountainmusic.org). Tickets will not be for sale at Bear Pond Books or through the Capital City Concerts website. This concert is not included in the subscription ticket package. |
