Violinist Laurie Smukler and pianist Robert McDonald were among those who provided a grand finale last season when they performed the Schumann Piano Quintet at our last concert. They are two of the most sought-after chamber musicians in the United States and are distinguished faculty members of the Juilliard School. They will perform big, gorgeous masterpieces: Beethoven's Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 4, A minor, Op. 23, and Franck's Sonata for Violin and Piano in A major. Davidovsky's Synchronisms No. 9 for Violin and Tape, as well as Hindemith's Sonata for Violin and Piano, Op.11, No. 1 will make for a sonically spell-binding program. This will be music-making as good as it gets!
